Mast Ram
Requirements
- Easy to apply
- Plenty of purchase
The mast ram was designed, but as explained previously not implemented.
Instead a muscle block is fitted under the deck and routed to a cleat at the
back of the centreboard cap. this gives a 12:1 ratio, but suffers from the
following problems.
1. There is a lot of friction.
2. The ram prevents the mast from moving fully forward.
3. If the system is overloaded it would punch a hole through the buoyancy tank.
(this has happened to me on a previous boat)
I wish to replace this system as soon as possibe.
