Outhaul

I wanted to hide the outhaul inside the mast. it is only adjusted by the crew when they are in the boat at mark roundings. the cleat is mounted on the boom before turning and dangling near the gooseneck. this is a very common arrangement.

When rigging the system i found there was just enough space in the boom to fit a three part cascade, this along with the a simple purchase about the main clew gives a total purchase of 16:1.

this is huge for an outhaul and does require quite a bit of pulling, but it does enable the outhaul to be adjusted when travelling up wind. Useful if things get hectic at the leward mark.
