May
Chris
Turner made
the trip up from Newcastle but left the wind some where up the M74,
so unfortunately he did not have a lot to work with, he did however
pass on a lot of tips on general tuning and sailing without a rudder,
which should be said is much easier when you know how. All in all
everyone went home knowing a lot more than when they first arrived.
The
Sunday regatta
looked like starting the same way but, after a short postponement the
wind kicked in nicely and by the afternoon there was a brisk breeze
with plenty of sunshine. Crawford Reid and Issy Martin proved that
local knowledge really does pay off and won all three races, but
behind them there was close competition with places being lost and
gained in dramatic fashion. Malcolm Kerr and Susan Knox were second
in the first two races followed by Duncan and John Ainsely, and in
the last race Duncan was second and John McKelvie crewed by Scott
Caldow were third.
