DescriptionAlbacore 1712 - Fairey hull completed by J W Davis of Westcliff on Sea, Essex, first measured on 13/03/65, & certificate issued 17/05/65.
1712 has full length side buoyancy tanks with triple inspection hatches & 2 bow buoyancy bags. She is fitted with self bailers and has a wooden centreboard. Two masts are included and one boom with original classic style pulleys and ropes. Quadrant levers provide rig adjustment & there is a main traveller track. Modern jib sheet tracks & jammers have been added. There is a lifting rudder, tiller with extension & a paddle.
The sail inventory includes a McNamara main, a set of Norths & a set of Ratsey & Lapthorns. There is also an early 1952 set of original cotton sails by R & L - these would need new wires & clews.
There is a canvas & pvc top cover and a serviceable combi trailer. Two 10" wheels with vgc tyres can also be included.
The really important bit is that she has been dry-stored for a good number of years and the hull seems to be in good shape. I have not found any soft spots or evidence of previous repairs. She will however need a couple of coats of varnish on decks and hull before launching.
My original plan was to carry out a full restoration with a friend but plans have changed so 1712 is now looking for a new home.
