Has anyone given any thought to the Internationals in Toronto next year?

They did a presentation for us at Largs last year which can be found here: albacore.ca/2011internationals but if we're going to ship boats over there we need to start the ball rolling.

I believe there is quite an interest in the Beaver Fleet .

The 2011 UK nationals are being scheduled in June (subject to venue confirmation) to allow time for shipping.

I would like to be there, but am erring towards the beg/borrow/lease route.

Well, whilst I know absolutely nothing about shipping things overseas, let alone containering Albacores, I had wondered about finding out how hard/easy it might be. Asolutely no promises of doing anything, but certainly finding out a bit more.

Hence the posting - I was trying to see how much interest there might be. There's no point doing the work unless there's some prospect of filling the container.

The responses to the thread are very disappointing, so I've done nothing.

I think the lack of response could be due to the new design of the Forum. It certainly took me a while to recreate my login and be in a position to post a reply.

I'm sure I could find a list of email addresses for the direct approach if you want?

Yes, much thought. But I probably can't go! The crew's playing hard to get (and he's the one with the relations/free bunks/etc. in the area).
But, I'm absolutely sure that there are already serious plans and preparations being made by the Shetlanders. They'd be well worth contacting directly if anybody wants to keep the plans together.

Chris Turner at Ovington will know all about this or who to contact. He may be at Lyme for the 505 Nationals in which case I will see him tomorrow - if he's not at the 505s I'll phone him

Crackerjack, 2010 Ovington with timber decks will be over, £10,600 plus shipping, if we can manage a container.

Re Container
Historically I believe the costs have been £750 per boat to ship, apart from the vat increase to swallow I should not expect this to have increased by much.

If there is any interest & Norman is struggling for time I don't mind taking this on, bit we would need to see some interest here first, followed by; I suggest a non- refundable deposit of say £200?

This may or may not flush out a few boats?

In anticipation Mark...

Mark,
My intention is to be there but I am looking for a good charter rather than losing Ptarmigan for such a long time

Hi everyone,

I would also like a berth in any container going to the Internationals, so put my name down on the list if you have started one Norman.

But I have also started to find out the possibility of getting a container started up here in Shetland, if there is enough folk up North looking for adventure.

I will get costings etc from a carrier up here, but I am looking to get this shipped out of Glasgow over to Toronto.

Cheers

Mark/ Norman,

I have a pretty comprehensive list of contacts from my previous job which involved alot of shipping of bigger boats, rigs, containers, box trailers etc. If you would like me to put you in touch with them or speak direct on your behalf give me a shout.

Best regards,

Hugh.
