South Cerney Sailing Club Albacore Inland Championships Notice of Race Saturday 4th – Sunday 5th May 2019 1. Organising Authority The organising authority is South Cerney Sailing Club. 2. Rules 2.1 All races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules Of Sailing 2.2 Competitors should note that South Cerney Sailing Club implements the RYA Racing Charter and that they will be required to undertake to sail in compliance with the Charter, which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book (RYA Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 -2020), on the official notice board, or on the RYA Website: http://www.rya.org.uk/racing/Pages/RacingCharter.aspx. 2.3 Racing rules Racing rules 28, 33, 35, 40, A4.2, and A5 will be changed. The changes appear in full in the Sailing Instructions or in this Notice of Race. 3. Eligibility and Entry 3.1 Entries should be made on the appropriate form in the clubhouse. The entry fee for the event will be £25. Registration will commence from 09:30 on Saturday 4th May. 3.2 All boats must hold a current registration certificate 3.3 Helms must be a member of the Albacore association. 3.4 All craft on the club premises (on land and on the water) must have full insurance cover, including third party liability to £2,000,000. All craft intended to be used for racing must have appropriate insurance cover. 3.5 The safety of the boat and its entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor(s) racing the boat. 3.6 The race organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/competitor, his skipper or crew, as a result of their taking part in the race or races. Moreover, every owner/competitor warrants the suitability of his craft for the race or races. 4. Schedule of Races 4.1 Six races are scheduled, 3 back to back on Saturday and 3 back to back on Sunday. The organisers reserve the right to amend the schedule subject to the weather conditions. 4.2 The warning signal for the first race shall be no earlier than 12.55 on Saturday 4th May. 4.3 The warning signal for the 1st race on Sunday 5th May shall be no earlier than 09.55 4.3 There will be a briefing for all competitors no earlier than 12.15 on Saturday 4th May 4.4 No warning signal will be made after 13.00 on Sunday 5th May 4.5 The prize giving will be held after the final race on Sunday 5th May. 5. Sailing Instructions Sailing instructions are posted on the official notice board in the clubhouse, and are also published on the club website. 6. Course The course will be posted on the committee boat and/or race hut. 7. Scoring The number of results that will be used to determine a boats series score will be as follows:- . 6 races completed, 4 results will count . 4-5 races completed, 3 results to count . A minimum of 3 races constitutes a series 8. Personal Buoyancy Flotation Devices Adequate personal buoyancy flotation devices for crew members shall be worn. Flag Y will not be displayed. This changes rule 40. 9. Prizes Prizes will be presented for overall 1st , 2nd and 3rd places and highest placed SCSC boat not in the 1st 3 places. 10. Advertising and Sponsorship Advertising will be allowed in accordance with the Albacore Class Association rules. 11. GPS Tracking South Cerney Sailing Club actively promote the use of TackTracker software http://tacktracker.com. This allows GPS trackers to be fitted to boats and for the GPS data to be uploaded at the end of racing to facilitate a review of the race. Helms may use GPS devices that only have logging capability (i.e. do not provide real time information). Visiting helms may be offered the loan of a GPS logger for use during the racing but are not under any obligation to accept the offer. 12. Invasive Species Protection South Cerney Sailing Club is committed to the prevention of the spread of invasive species and as such we are following the Environment Agency and RYA guidelines – “CHECK CLEAN DRY” Visiting or returning sailors before travelling to SCSC should take all reasonable measures to: 1. CHECK for plant material and animal species (e.g. shrimp, zebra mussel, weed) 2. CLEAN – wash boats, launching trolleys and kit 3. DRY – for as long as possible before event, at least 2 days recommended. More details at http://www.nonnativespecies.org/checkcleandry Please make sure your boat has been clean and dry for at least 2 days prior to your arrival. The entry form will require you to self-certify that this is the case. We also recommend that you check and wash your boat before leaving SCSC, facilities are made available for this. 13. Further Information South Cerney Sailing Club will be open to receive visiting competitors from 09:00 on Saturday 4th May and by special arrangement on Friday 3rd May.
