JJ is right about low aspect jibs being easier to set. When the high aspect jib first came to Albacores pioneered by Nigel Young I think, (it was many years back and the memory may be fallible), it was faster especially upwind, but difficult to get right for the average sailor like me. Having used one for a season I suggested to Mike Mac that he made a mid aspect ratio jib somewhere between the two for me to use. This he did and shortly thereafter he used a mid aspect jib himself and it then became the standard jib that mostly all now all use and call high aspect. We have little to learn about jibs from Stars.
