Well, I can tell you what I know.

Eleven boats took to the water on Saturday. Only eight started the first race, only five finished it. Three, yes that's three suffered broken masts and one hull split along the keel. One crew was taken to A&E with suspected hypothermia. Top marks go to Mike Hartley for refitting his boat with his bootlaces and bits of string from his pocket whilst racing. And that was Saturday. Winds were at 25mph plus with gusts over 30mph.
The winds were even higher on Sunday morning.
I packed the boat and went home.

The results are as follows.

Saturday was sailed on the sea in F4 to F5 & quite big waves. 3 races.
Sunday morning was a blustery F5 so it was cancelled on the sea, we decided to postpone until 12 o'clock and by the time we got out the wind had dropped slightly and we raced on the marine lake

The results for the weekend were.

1st Nev Herbert & Mark Fowler 1,1,1,1,(1)
2nd Phil Smith & Tom Williams 3,(4),3,3,3
3rd Mike Hartley + Crew DNF, 3, DNF, 2,2
4th Judy & Paul Armstrong 2,2,2,DNS DNS

I have to say it was an AWESOME weekend of sailing with some very close racing. In each race the top 4 finished with in a minute of each other.

A big thank you to everyone at West Kirby Sailing club, the sailing, social and hospitality were first class!

We will look forward to returning soon!

Sailing was excellent...hospitality wonderful, & beachmasters brilliant.
Really enjoyed the event, a challanging weekend sail.

Be good to see some photos

The results are now on the web-site of WKSC, see

www.wksc.org.uk/results/ALBACORE%20OPEN%20MEETING%202015.htm

Sadly we couldn't make it to our own open meeting due to a business trip at the same time. But with hindsight that probably saved our mast…
