2014 National Championships
The location is booked – Parkstone Yacht Club with excellent facilities and some of the best sailing waters in this country. The Parkstone race team have plenty of experience of running events and have hosted many class Nationals. Parkstone cannot guarantee blue skies and blue waters but they have been requested. We can offer a well-run event and some good sailing and racing both inside the harbour and out in Poole Bay. Along with this will come some interesting challenges transiting the harbour shipping channels. There will also be the opportunity to view some of the most expensive Sandbanks real estate from the water! Three days racing: six races in total, daily prize-giving and no doubt some good social action with tall stories thrown in as well.
The entry fee will include entry to the commodore's reception on the Friday evening and two tickets for a curry supper on the Saturday evening. All entries received by 1st July 2014 will be accepted at the discounted fee of £85. The fee for later entries will be £110. This will be a popular event so get your entry in early.
The official Notice of Race is being published in this issue of Alive and entry forms are also included.
The Bournemouth – Poole area attracts a considerable volume of holiday traffic so plan to leave plenty of time for your journey. Boat inspections and checks will be carried out from midday on Thursday so plan to arrive early and hopefully avoid some of the jams on the road and at the 'weigh-in'. We would like to weigh and inspect all boats by Thursday evening. We have made provision for late inspection after racing on Friday should this be necessary.
We have arranged space for a limited number of camper vans on site at the club. More space can be arranged at another location but we must have advance knowledge. There are no official camp sites in the immediate vicinity (the nearest are Ferndown and Wimborne) so planning ahead for accommodation is essential.
