Have bought Alb 5857 built by Knight and Pink. Can any one out there tell me a bit about their boats. For example, how many were built and have any of them been successful at the nationals? I would be interested in any snippets of information available.

There are 57 K & P boats registered with the RYA. I don't think K & P were ever owned by the Heinz corporation though! There's always a possibility that there are others that were never registered, but if there are the number would be very small.



They were built between 1967 and 1991, and I'm sure you'll know that yours was in April 1975.



I don't think that anyone has ever correlated builders with Championship performance, but certainly I've witnessed a few going fast! I can't recall one winning the Nationals off the top of my head, but I do know one that has been second (twice!).



Also of course there's your own boat - it was 3rd at the Nationals in both 1975 & 1976 in the hands of Basil Ellis. In that day and age we were getting 120 boats to championships, so that's not a bad achievement at all!

Thank you for that information Norman.I came across the boat which had been laid up and dry stored for the past 18 years in a garage in Aberdeen!She is in very good condition and I intend to get her back on the water and racing!
