Guys,

I have a mark 3 Woof number 6959 and am looking to fit an adjustable mast rake system. My problem is on my boat I have no thwart and a bulk head that stands proud at the end of the side buoyancy tanks (bow). This makes it difficult to position cleats and to lead anything from the shroud to the mast step. Anyone else had this problem or better still a solution?

Also what type of cordage to use, what should max load of the blocks be and opinions on what is the best brand of blocks to use?

PS.

Can't make Chris' training day at Strathclyde Park as I am at the ET champs with son & son's oppy.

We have a boat at Lyme which has the adjustment system of 2 (3 part) blocks above deck (ie 2 for each shroud)which seems to work OK.

I am no expert but modern 6mm rope seems adequate for the task. The boat has a safety loop of ?wire which would hold the shroud if the block arrangement broke.

The rope from this system is lead back to cleats inside the boat.

Remember to allow the leeward spreader to swing forward when the load is taken off- this allows the boom to be eased further forward than would otherwise be the case

Best wishes

Jerry

I use a system above the side decks rather like I think Jerry is describing. However it does still route to the mast step area, and also cleats on the thwart.

Can you post a picture of your internal layout showing shrouds and mast step area? That might help identify if my system could be used in which case I'd be happy to outline it for you.
