Can anyone tell me what is the situation regarding taking a campervan to the Nationals at Looe? Is there space at the club or do we have to book at a local campsite and if so any suggestions as to which one?

If you have any size of camper you will not even be able to drive your boat to the club! I can get my VWT5 through with a double trailer the width restriction is just over 6' and you won't want to be too long either as the streets are very narrow.

I used to just park up for the week in a small carpark over the bridge (not the council run one) you can pay for the whole week although I had to be descreet about sleeping in the van.

The campsite used to be called 'Tencreek' it is a fair walk out of the village past West Looe and has no footpaths so it is better to get a taxi.

Even though I have a Camper, I would go for a B+B in the town!

The town itself is great, sadly though I will not be there, will be in Germany at the 14 Worlds.

I am camping (no van) and have booked a small site called Bay View Farm which is 4 miles out of Looe. I think this a bit further than Ten Creek but looked a nicer site. see www.looebaycaravans.co.uk

The 4 mile is a bit of a pain but seeing as Looe looks like a no go area for motor vehicles I am going to revert to a Bicyle. Apparently the hills are not so steep if you have a few pints of Cornish Ale!

Thank you to both of you - some useful information.

Having been at South Cerney the other day and seen some fairly big motor homes (which I presume came with Albacores attached), I wondered where they will be parking. My thoughts at this present time are to go to 'Tencreek' with our T5 and bicycles and stock up on the Cornish Ale for the return journey. Four miles seems an unecessary pennance and if I have to do too much of something the Cornish Ale or similar may well be my choice.

We checked out Bay View over Easter weekend !! fantastic views over the bay - unbeatable, BUT - I wouldn't fancy cycling from Looe to the camp site! The Southwest coastal path runs right by it. The loo block is a bit primative - next door to the Shire horses. There are sites that are closer, including the Caravan Club site, which is significantly easier to get to, but obviously more expensive! We have a large motorhome, but have booked B&B as suggested in an earlier post. I guess the money we save on fuel will go some way to paying for it! Good luck & see you there
