Hello all you blokes on the other side of the pond :)

I just got an old, 1972, Allan Albacore. She was once named 'Wet Sneakers'.

A former owner dismantled her in prep for a rebuild which didn't happen. Now I've got to figure out what goes where.

The biggest question; do the chainplates get fitted inside the hull, or on the hanging knee beneath the deck in the area. Both are removed, and the hull sanded smooth, so I can't see where the parts were located.

The extrusions have no labels on them, but all the fittings on the mast and boom are Holt Allen. There are no spreaders on the shrouds. The mast is barely tapered, and seems quite stiff. The boom is rectangular.

The sliding gooseneck fitting is missing. Any ideas for a source?

The main has the words '1972 National Champs'penned on the tack. Neat, huh?:)

It's fun getting an old boat going again, isn't it? Can't wait to sail her.

Thx for any help,

Lee

Would it be possible to take a picture of the chain plate area? Depnding on the amount of rig tension you like to use I would suggest that unless a vast amount of strength is required chain plates are to be located inside. For some boats that use adjustable rigging (Not required your side of the pond) an exrta plate is positioned on the outside of the hull, but as I say this is mainly for strength. you could email a picture or share a URL, if possible as I'm sure there are plently of opioions!
