Hi all

Katie and I made it back to Scotland (got home at 6.55am on Tuesday so Martin and Charlies Angel did take longer!)to Maidenhead. What a brilliant Championships we have just had. My thanks to everyone for all the effort and enthusiasm. Please add your comments below so that we can get a feel for how "you" think things went.

If you didn't go please tell us why so that we can try and accomodate or incorporate.

Unfortunately I was unable to produce a report each night because Looe S C is not yet on Broadband, nor does it have WiFi (neither did our accomodation) - due to some glitch the first overall report I did send didnt get to Yachts & Yachting - I had to re-send it from the Looe Enterprise Centre ( Broadband access for Ł1.50 per hour!)

I will be submitting an expanded report for the magazine - last year their reports got very behindhand in the mag - in October they were still reporting late August/early September

Terrific event, my first nationals since returning to the sport and first ever albacore event.Sorry wasnt around much to chat to fellow Albies in the evenings, brought herds of kids.Really impressed with the friendliness of the class and made some good new mates(thanks in partic to the essex boys on Aeolian).I've got a hell of a lot to learn about setting the boat up!Hopefully see you later in the season, working on pink ticket to do Northerns(this time in my old Fairey 1258).Well done to Looe SC.

Very good event with good close racing. I did not break any thing on the boat, (unusual for me) just my sun glasses.

Martin

Glad to hear you made it home ok and hope you have now caught up on your sleep. If I had known you were walking the boat out would have given you a tow at least even if you did beat us! Seriously enjoyed the sport and hope to have the opportunity to repeat it some time.

Thoroughly enjoyed the event. Nice and relaxed! We pulled the full results of the web last night (Tuesday) We always leave our cover on the boat until the last minute, to stop the sun bleaching the decks, but even so, still got to the start in time on Monday!

As normal, Looe didn't let us down - the races were turned round so quickly, you hardly had time to eat lunch, and as for bladder relief...... !!!!!! (it's alright for you men)

I would echo Andy's comments about the excellent organisation by both the Association and our hosts, Looe Sailing Club. I certainly would not be diappointed to be heading back to Looe again some time - Wll done to all involved.

Being pretty new to the Class, it was a great opportunity to meet some of you, and I'm pleased to say that the Class does have it's own community, so keep it up.

I'm not sure what time Derek got home, but for those of you that saw me dragging Charlie's Angel down Looe High Street (without a car), we managed to get back to Maidenhead at 6am on Tuesday morning. After quite some discussion with the AA, on the back of a truck (7 hours)!!! Perhaps change the 'furthest travelled' prize for 'longest time to get home'!?!

Great weekend

Hi Derek

Glad to hear you made it home ok. The 2008 Nationals was an excellent event and a credit to both those involved in organising it and our hosts Looe Sailing Club. I am sure all those who attended enjoyed the excellent sailing and the opportunity to pick up tips, compare notes and swap anecdotes. It was an experience that I would not want to have missed.

For those who had to wait until today for the results just remember that most of us didn't get home til late last night and I guess for Derek it was the wee small hours at best. Those who attended got a results sheet within an hour of coming off the water!

As a small negative I would just ask the question of why we held up the start of race 6 on Monday for several boats who were only just leaving the beach when the race was due to start. The other 36 boats just milled around and waited. There may possibly have been good reason for the delay but clearly some crews were late to rig and several boats still had covers on when we launched. As we are happy to black flag 'early starters' perhaps we should consider a penalty for those late comers or just start the race on time leaving late comers to catch up!

Again well done

I have the results but in hard copy form so I have asked for a full electronic set so I can put them on the site without retyping.
Jerry has sent a report to Y&Y which can be found at www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=142405
There were photos taken and I have been told that we shall get a set to publish on the web site, but please be patient.

My comments are that there have been no race reports or results anywhere online. If it's been a brilliant champs why not publicise the fact. Those of us that couldn't attend would appreciate it as no doubt would the sponsors.

Who won???
