Hi guys

I am currently planning to do Maidenhead in 8069 but am currently short of a crew (smallish) if there is any interest please let me know. Would be a shame to pass up the opportunity of a few beers with the Silver Fox!

I am sailing Against All Odds with Charles Devenport, Saturday as a tune up sort of thing & then race day Sunday. I spoke to Neville at the Dinghy show, he is hoping to sail if he has a boat.

Hi John,

I was just enquiring about bar saturday night. Someone at the dinghy show on Saturday mentioned that the bar maybe open on the Saturday night and hence my ears pricked up! If not i'm sure It's possible to find one within walking distance!

Phil
We have some grass to camp on. I will have to sort out keys as the gates and the club will need to be locked overnight. I'll get formal approval from t'committee but I dont see a problem as it adds to the club security having people on site.
Do you mean Saturday night or after racing on Sunday for the bar? If there is interest then I can see if we can get it opened on saturday night, alternatively there are local hostelries within walking distance.

The following are local to the club. If there is interest I will ask Caroline at Sheephouse Manor if she can offer us a special Albacore rate.

www.sheephousemanor.co.uk/ is very close to the club – it almost overlooks the lake (and is run by a friend of ours – worth a call to check her current tariffs).

If you want a hotel then there is the Thames Riviera about a mile from the club www.foliohotels.com/thamesriviera/

The Thames Hotel www.thameshotel.co.uk/ is a similar distance from the club but getting a bit tired (our neighbours tried the new restaurant in the hotel and weren’t very impressed).

If you are looking for a basic B&B then www.raycornerguesthouse.co.uk/ or www.bridgecottagebb.co.uk/ are close (1 mile).

At the other end of the scale there is www.redroofsatoldfield.co.uk/ - Grand B&B in a riverside Victorian Mansion (with grand prices to match).

I am in the same position as I don't live there any more! Depends how much you want to spend. If you google hotels Cookham or Maidenhead you get a list. The Holiday Inn is near jnct 3/4 on the M4 and is OK. If you want to walk to the club then you have the Thames Riviera, Thames Hotel or Norfolk House. If you want to stay somewhere a bit fancy try the Taplow House (we used to have dinner dance there until the prices went up). Further afield. any of the Slough based "airport" hotels are not too far away. Huge choice - do it by price! I'll let John W or someone else from the club answer the other bit.
