They say every cloud has a "silver lining"

Due to injuring my ankle, Matt & Emma have been sailing "This way up" on a more regular basis than normal.

Yesterday was the second event of the Derbyshire Youth Series and I am please to report they had a FANTASTIC day with an overall win of the event

They managed to win the first race, despite the "stealth" PY of the optimists!

The second race was spent in a "dogfight" with a laser who sailed a very tactical race, however, whislt continually blocking the Alb, it meant that they were not able to get away from the the rest of the fleet and were therefore penalised on PY. finishing 8th

The third race was the deciding race with the competion still wide open.

They had a reasonable start and managed to be in fourth place at the first mark, by the third mark they has secured "clean wind" and managed to pull away from the main fleet sufficently to secure a third place overall (even with the optomists PY!),

The result were extremely tight, decide on a count back with 1 point seperating the top 5 places, however they had managed to secure an outright win due to their fist place in the first race.

This was the first time Emma has won a first place and a trophy (she normally sails with me!) so she's very happy.

Whilst we will not be coming down to the Inlands, they will be sailing "This way up" in the 3rd event of the Derbyshire Youth series.

Needless to say we are very proud of the them and I take this as my "Silver lining"

It just goes to show the versatility of the Albacore

Looks like you may have to chain your boat down, or perhaps hand it over all together.

Better bring your bike to Largs just in case.

Pass on my congratulations to them both.
