All,

Quick one here- Where is the best (if any) club to take an Albacore for competitive racing through the Winter? Do any established fleet clubs sail all the way through (eg: South Cerney etc)?

Also are there any one off events which are particularly favoured by Albacore salors to attend?

Cheers,

Hugh :)

We sail all the way through the winter at Maidenhead (unless the lake is frozen) and offer winter membership.
Class racing for Albs, we are expecting 8-10 Albs out this winter. Usual format is short (30min) pursuit race for all classes followed by fleet racing (Alb, Laser, Solo, Menagerie).
The first Sunday of the month is short pursuit followed by handicap race for all classes.

As for winter events, there is some interest in getting as many Albs as possible doing the big events such as
Bloody Mary
Grafham Grand Prix
Tiger Trophy.

Hugh,

Neville & I are sailing around half a dozen winter events, I'll post them up, but the first one is the Bartley Bunout at Bartley S.C West Birmingham on Saturday 6 November.

2 pursuit races, we finished behind the Phantoms & Merlins, it was a great day out. Will Gulliver won both races sailing his Phantom.

Hugh I don't know where you are based and if you are near the South coast you can join us at Weston Sailing Club on Southampton Water. Our Frostbite series starts on the 6th November and runs through until Christmas.

Johnnie Dellow and I sail there so with you we could have three Albacores in the slow handicap fleet. Southampton Water offers good sailing with waves in south through to NW winds and shifty but flat water when blowing NE or East.

Hello All,

So is anyone on here sailing at South Cerney during this Winter? If so how many boats are out?

I would love to get to Maidenhead but a 5hr round trip on a Sunday is not an option unfortunately.

Hope to see you all on the water soon.

Hugh. :)
