I am considering stripping my Albi deck back to the bare wood and having it expoxy treated to address a moisture ingress issue. Has anyone any advice as to the best method of stripping off the old varnish?

When I did mine I used a hot air gun and it worked very well. I tried to ensure that I didn't get the wood too hot for fear of causing damage to the glue in the ply lay up. Finish off by sanding along the grain. You could of course sand the whole thing but I would be concerned about accidentally sanding through the top veneer. I have seen that and you can't rectify it other than inlaying a layer of vaneer.
Good luck, its a nice winters job provided you have a heated garage.

Also nitromors in yellow coloured can and a tungsten carbide scraper. These are ones you pull towards yourself not the sort that work like a chisel. You can get them from B & Q and they are sharp as anything. An old toothbrush will sort out any nooks and crannies but watch out for the spray and wear glasses gloves and old clothes.
Wash as per instructions on nitromors can and sand gently along the grain.
All the best with it

Gordon,
I have tried all sorts over the years and the hot air gun is by far the best and cleanest, but as Dermott says, don't hold it over the one bit too long.
you may also find with the winter temps that the epoxy takes a couple of days to fully cure, you really need a steady 10-15 degrees.
