Chris Turner has posted this on the Yachts and Yachting Dinghy Development Forum. In brief the West Dorset District Council is not intending to renew the lease for the Sailing Club's Car Park and Dinghy Park. They want to use it for visitors boat trailers.

This could impact enormously on the activities of this superb little sailing club and effectively stop other dinghy sailors from enjoying the sailing waters around Lyme Regis.

Lyme Regis Sailing Club needs the support of the Albacore fleet.

Tragic news, lets hope the local authorities see sense & realise that the club brings significant revenue to the area..

TSF.. :(

It's quite possible to appeal against this decision. The council are there to provide facilities for people who live in the area as well as visiting sailors who provide income for the businesses in the area.

It might even be possible to offer a compromise and the club provide some trailer spaces for visiting sailors.

The first port of call should be for the people who live within the council area to contact their local councillor - this person has been elected by local residents to represent those local residents.
