Hi Alan

You will find a number of different names for 6694 in the results archive:

"Ferret" and "Mr Magsa" in
www.albacore.org.uk/results/Past%20Nationals/page4.HTM

"Sticky Fingers" in
www.albacore.org.uk/results/Past%20Nationals/page5.HTM

"Revival" in
www.albacore.org.uk/results/Past%20Nationals/page6.HTM

"Soupey Twist" in

Im not sure what here registered name was out of these.

Hi Alan

This one's a good deal more interesting than I'd like it to be...

John has already identified the names it has used at Nationals. It has partaken in 9 Nationals altogether, and has been driven by some of the class's greats including amongst others Keith Caush, Richard Watkinson, Simon Challen, Stuart Pearson, and Russell Wane. The most recent entry was in 1995, and the best result it had was with Russell Wane when 7th in 1978.

Now for the bad news. It doesn't appear on the RYA registration list at all! This means that I can't provide any detail about builder or dates (or registered name). I'd guess at June 1978 given the numbered boats either side of it.

The issue really is that it's not allowed to compete unless it has a valid certificate which it can only have if it registered at the RYA.

Without casting aspersions I suspect that this might be an omission on the RYA records. Did you have a measurement certificate with it? If so, what detail was there?

I'd be interested in filling the knowledge gap if anyone else can help. This could even be a missing Woof.

Enjoy sailing her anyway!

Hi
Thanks for that.. no measurement cert with boat..

It`s all glass fibre cant find number in the boat where it shoud be.. I belive it`s a Fosbite..

It must have had certificate for it to race in the 9 nationals..

it looks like I will have to contact the RY

Hi this would seem to be a case of the boat having sails from a newer boat, cant imagine a fosrite being that competitive, Fosrite wouuld be pre 6200 i think. Have you got a pic of the boat,

I think Graham may be right, the 6694 pictured www.yachtsandyachting.com/photos/albacor...lands_williams_1.jpg here sailing at the 2007 inlands appears to be a wooden boat - hard to see clearly but the transom definitely looks wooden which I think would be unusual on an all glass Fosrite.

Also more pics here suggest a wooden deck:

www.albacore.org.uk/results/2007/inlands2007pics.htm

(blue hull rounding mark in third picture).

Is there a sail number on the hull anywhere eg transom, hog, rear of c/b case or on the thwart?
