On ebay is a developmental Albacore
Does anyone know the history of this? Does it have dispensation to race as an Albacore?

Someone's misguided idea on an 'improved future Albacore'. It might look good but informed sources say it was a bit of a dog and was overweight - names withheld to avoid conflict. A few were built but I doubt they would conform or measure due to the apparent double flooring in the rear section aside from other issues. Might be good for clearing the water after a capsize though but would not fancy sailing it in Lyme Bay! Best bits appear to be the rig and rudder stock so will be interesting to see what it goes for.

For some reason putting the url in the message hid it from view! I was able to edit it and see the text but it wouldn't show when submitted so I've removed the link.

No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationHere is the link:

Some info from Mike Mac.

"This looks to me like the hull that Richard Watkinson produced without permission. It was his concept of the way forward.
The mould had been used by Paul ???(forgotten the name) based in Ashby de la Zouch to build a reasonable number of Albacores. Duncan Glen had one. Was as quick as the Porters at the time but if you look carefully it looks like a Rondar decking…this was, I think later used by Speeds .
Richard W.altered the mould by cutting off the freeboard down to Swordfish depth thereby ruining the mould. He had one or two made and they were way way way overweight! He sailed one at the Tynemouth Champs in mid 90`s.At the time class members were incensed and an almighty row went on ….and on…
The mould was then stored on its side and went both out of shape and out of class. Great shame really as we could have done with a backup to the current mould. I don’t know where the mould is now."
