Nev Herbert is just back from a weekend in Florida sailing at the Midwinter regatta. He asked me to post this.

Florida Mid Winters 2013
Final results from the 3 day, 2013 'One Design Mid Winters' held in Sarasota, Florida over March 22 - 24.
15 boats, 11 races, 12-15 knots and 80 degrees!! This has to be the best Winter sailing available.

Sarasota Sailing Squadron have offered their facilities for the 2015 Internationals which will most likely be held immediately following their Mid Winters in late March.
Time to start planning your beach vacation.

Wow this looks attractive, after our terrible long winter.

At Lyme yesterday we had champagne sailing conditions if you like your champagne iced - air and sea temperature both 5 degrees Celcius. At least the sun was shining unlike today.

YES the US Albacore Assn has taken the rather bold step of hosting the 2015 Internationals in Sarasota, FL. While it is a long way from the active North American Albacore fleets, we have been conducting a mid winter championship at this venue for well over 10 years. It is a wonderful place to sail and race. We in North America have also conducted countless winter practice sessions over the years. You know, with all of that sailing over all of that time, we have never lost a day due to a lack of wind. We HAVE lost a few days to thunderstorms with visible lightning - like two of them. This is over more than ten years. Our planning is to organize rail transportation in containers from locations north so that teams can fly in and out for the event with their boat and gear delivered. There is plenty of room for containers and such. There is much more to say about Sarasota Sailing Squadron and how we plan to make this event work for all concerned.

See you all in Abersoch!
