I have just joined the forum in the hope that somone can help.
I am the proud owner of wooden Albacore 1288, Hull number 111, A Fairey Marine Mk1 I think. Although I have had it for 38 years, my maintenance and storage hasn't been too clever and has now come back to bite me.
On stripping it back I have discovered a high degree of rot at the stern. Some in the transom itself but the outer ply was a bit rotten so I dug a bit deeper and have found the inner ply under the rear frame has completely disintegrated. Is there an "easy" way of replacing these inner laninae or do I need to remove the transom? And if the Transom has to come off how would I go about it?
