Hi to all members,

I would like some advice on a repair I'm making to my albacores dagger board which is in need of some tlc. The timber has split around the pivot point after failure of historical repairs. I am replacing the sections timber but as the attached photo shows there seems to be a bronze pad on either side of the board surrounding the pivot. Is there a reason why this would have been added or is it original. Is it for additional strength or as a rubbing protection? Any help would be appreciated.

I would think its reinforcment, if yours is beyond repair i have 2 centreboards for sale, let me know if interested, cheers Graham

Many thanks for offer. I’m going to repair what I’ve got. I think you are right they are for strengthening for what would have been a slotted centre board. If useful for others I found that use of bronze would have been for durability & aesthetic reasons back in the 60s. Am going to replace with stainless as bronze is a little dearer these days. Thanks for your help
