Campsite booked for us 'Bolmyndd' I think the Metcalf Smiths are also booked at the same site too. If there are any other brave enough to camp hopefully we will see you there. Hopefully it wont rain (which is very hopeful for Wales)

Richard,

Don't diss - many a time we have been to dinghy week and come back looking like we've been to the Carribean!
Abersoch has its own weather pattern.
Cloudy and rainy on Snowdon (normal) - sunny in Abersoch.

Yep, used to go there on holidays as a nipper and often seen the clouds shoot past Abersoch on their way to Snowdon, which in summer generates a fine sea breeze. The latter brings a good swell, enough to hide the sails of a Mirror Dinghy circumnavigating the island (whose name escapes me), from the view of anxious parents on the beach, as I also found out.

So how many Albs have now registered for the event? Looking forward to our first National and Internationals!

I'm sure Mike Banner will be along soon with a more up to date answer, but at the beginning of May the entries stood at 39 boats (including 5 Americans), So I would expect in excess of 50 boats at the champs.

Dear Other Helms, when one's crew signs off as "The lump in the front" is it the done thing to refer to oneself as "The (sad) Sack in the Back"? "The (load of old) Cack in the Back"? or my personal favourite (although I say so myself ) "The (rather impressive) Rack in the Back"?

Any advice much appreciated.

"yawn" Abersoch can not come soon enough.

Dear HS

I have been called many things in my time - mostly rude.
"Old fart" doesn't seem too bad and is very fitting according to my wife

Currently we have 40 entries excluding our American competitors so as John says we are expecting to have in excess of 50 boats by the time the Champs start in August.

Dear Albacore Mike

You will have 1 less entry if I can't get a crew ! I have entered but am at present crewless. Are there any crews out there who want a weeks holiday in Abersoch ?

Any truth in the Rumour, that the container from USA has fallen through?

The original plan fell through as there were not enough boats to fill the big container and make it viable to deliver to Abersoch. There is a new plan, almost finalized, to deliver a smaller container to Rondar and collect the boats from there, returning them in a Rondar container to Boston after the event. The main unresolved item is if the masts will fit in the container, we may have to get masts from Superspar on the way.

If all goes well boats will be loaded Monday 1st July immediately after US Nationals.

Hello all UK Albacore sailors. We have re constituted and re structured our North American container plans - but WE NEED SOME HELP FROM YOU GUYS. As of this moment we have three boats being shipped - 8200, 8198, and 8185. These boats will be shipped from Baltimore, MD in the USA to West Kirby Sailing Club (WKSC) - near Liverpool. Presently the ship is to arrive in Liverpool on the 23rd of July and should clear customs a few days after that. We are planning to have the container trucked to WKSC and unloaded there by some members of the WKSC Albacore fleet - cause we won't be there just yet. We have made contact with a few members there who have graciously assured us that they will make it happen - but I am sure these guys could use some help. Are there any folks in this area of the country that could help do the unload?? We are truly desperate. Drop me a line if you can assist. Profound thanks.
