GJW Direct SailFest 2014

Date: Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th August (coaching day Friday 22nd)
Location: Calshot, South New Forest, Hampshire

SailFest14 centres around the dinghy sailing regatta which combines coaching, fleet and handicap racing. 3 days of high quality racing in the Solent are complemented by social events and sporting activities set at a fantastic location on the Solent Shore of the New Forest in Hampshire.

* same format * new venue * more activities * more accommodation *

* same August Bank Holiday weekend * new volunteer opportunities *

The Racing
SailRacer are enlisting members of the Olympic Race Team as the Race Committee and welcome early enquiries from classes to be involved to make the racing work well for them. Friday 22nd August will be a coaching day, with a separate entry/participation fee to the racing regatta.

All racing will, of course, be tracked by SailRacer!

In conjunction with Calshot Activities Centre, SailRacer will be running sports sessions including velodrome cycling, climbing, dry-ski slope and of course water-based activities. Family and friends can try a variety of sports whilst sailors are on the water. The racing is scheduled around morning tides, enabling regatta competitors to take full advantage of the other activities on offer. Evening sessions will also be run - the cycling in particular has fantastic high level spectator galleries.

Accommodation packages include B&B, camping and campervan pitches. There is on-site catering and a bar so SailRacer will be arranging social events on both Saturday and Sunday evening.

B&B packages will range from 3 nights to 7 nights - extend your stay to explore the New Forest. Either traditional Saturday-Saturday or midweek Thursday-Thursday to avoid the holiday traffic

There will be opportunities for family and friends, where suitably qualified, to take part in the event as part of the safety team. As with the race team there is a wealth of volunteers who have developed skills which there are few opportunities to use. Volunteers will benefit from subsidised accommodation packages, which may of course be shared with competitors.
